Birds are other attractions found in this National Park where it hosts over 200 bird species. You will also come across different species of butterflies, reptiles, lizards and many others during this walk. The safari will start and end in Kigali the capital city of Rwanda.

DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

The drive takes you about two and a half to three hours’ drive from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park therefore, you will wake up as early as possible, take heavy breakfast at around 4:00am in the morning then later set off to the Park offices in Musanze region with your gorilla trekking permit.

You will be grouped into eight people and be briefed by a park ranger about the national park and gorillas. Trekking normally lasts for about three hours – one hour moving to search for these apes, one hour spent with them and another one retreating to the Park offices to meet your safari guide back to the lodge.

Have a chance to trek any gorilla family during that one hour you spend with them, learn much about these creatures as you watch their social behaviors, learn how they groom each other, how mothers give care to their siblings, watch them play especially infants and so many others.  If you’re lucky enough you will also spot other primates since it’s a nature walk, record birds by calls and spot some, beautiful primates and many others that will make your safari more colourful and enjoyable. After these three hours of trekking drive back to Kigali and be dropped off at the agreed location.
