DAY BY DAY ITINERARY

Day 1: Kampala city experience

Today is when you will arrive at Entebbe International airport. Follow all the immigration proceedings, and thereafter you will be received by our company representative, who will usher to the 14 days Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania Safari. All the three countries are in East Africa, yet offering very unique attractions such as the mountains, flora, fauna, water bodies and more. You will depart for your lodge after a small talk in regards to Uganda.

The route to Kampala is filled with scattered homesteads, busy streets and more. Get a warm welcome at reception of the hotel, check-In for dinner and a nap. Spend the evening at the hotel as you take photo, take a rest from the long Journey and adopt to Ugandan weather. Dinner and overnight is last thing today.

Day2: Kampala to Murchison Falls National park enroute Ziwa Rhino sanctuary

At the start of the day, breakfast will be served at 07:00hrs, and after about 30 minutes, you will check-out of the lodge for a 6-7-hour scenic drive to north west, traversing busy towns, lush vegetation and breathtaking Landscape. There will be an enroute stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for a one hour Rhino trekking. Uganda has a total of about 39 white Rhinos all at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary. These Belong to the African Big5 cats, and thus a great privilege of an encounter.

After the one-hour trekking exercise, you will proceed with the drive to Masindi for lunch, and thereafter to your lodge to check-in, refresh, and wait for Dinner time and then a nap as the last thing. Murchison Falls National park is the largest and oldest national park in Uganda, and has the world’s most powerful waterfall-Murchison Falls. Take enough rest as activities follow in the next days.

Day3: Game drive and Bottom of the falls cruise

After breakfast, you will go for game viewing in the north of the park. The time spent on game drive is about 3-4 hours, which is to usher you to what transpires in the wild. What plants are there, birds, primates, and mammals?  The notable ones are: the African elephants, African Buffaloes, warthogs, Giraffes, lions, leopards, water bucks, the Kobs, cranes, hartebeests, geenefowls, whistling acacia plants, and more. Get to learn the appearance, names and characteristics of the animals and take some of the most memorable photos. Lions and leopards are present but hard to catch. Incidences of an animal giving birth, having a kill, fighting and more often transpire in the wild, with some lucky visitors having a chance to see.

After game drive, you will have a Lunch break, followed by an afternoon bottom of the boat cruise. The session on the water takes about 2 hours, with views of the giant Nile crocodiles, hippos, aquatic birds, elephants and other mammals by the river bank, and the lush swamps. The water breeze makes the session unforgettable, and the time spend listening and taking photos beneath the world’s most powerful Waterfalls – Murchison falls is worth it. When all is done, you will return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and a peaceful sleep.

Day 4: Murchison falls np to Semuliki National park

Start well your day with a mouthwatering cup of coffee. Afterword’s, what follows is check-out and a 7-8 hour scenic drive to Semiliki national park. Semiliki is not only a true birders haven, but a place with biodiversity. The welcome of the backdrop of the snowcapped mountain Rwenzori makes the whole wonder in this visit. Lunch will be at Fort portal city, and a lot to see throughout the Journey. Talk of the plantations, busy towns, vendors along the roads, homes, and the rolling hills. There will be an evening arrival at your lodge for dinner a nap.

Day 5: Visit Sempaya Hot springs

At day break, you will have your breakfast meal at the lodge. Thereafter, depart to semiliki national park with the view of the breathtaking landscape, mountain backdrop and more. Arrive and be welcomed by the ranger guides who will brief you on the trekking dos and don’ts, and then take you for a guided forest walk to the Sempaya hot springs. To and from the springs, your eyes are fed with unique sights of plants, birds and the forest dwellers. Semiliki forest is a host to over 40% of the total bird species in Uganda, and this is confirmed when you walk in the forest and every minute see or hear the song of some new type of bird.

Spend time at the Sempaya hot springs, taking photos and boiling eggs. The natives of this place also believe that Sempaya hot spring is spiritual and can be used for body cleansing rituals. Lunch will be in the wild, and then you will return to the lodge at sunset for dinner and a peaceful sleep.

Day6: Transfer to Volcanoes NP

Wakeup at day break, greet your intestines with a heavy breakfast meal, and embark on a journey to “the land of Athousand hills”. This road trip will last for a full day, with an enroute Lunch meal, and boarder document verification. As you cross to Rwanda, you will appreciate the calm, beautiful scenery, happy people and the weather. Volcanoes national park is one of the four national parks in Rwanda, hosting the endangered mountain Gorillas, and the Karisimbi research Centre.

This the place where the Late Dian fossy; the former primate researcher did her studies on Gorillas and thus making It possible for us to meet one of the world’s most powerful primate today. You will arrive at the park in the evening, check-in, refresh and have dinner. After dinner, retire to bed.

Day 7: Gorilla trekking

By 6:30, your breakfast and parked lunch will be ready. Get done with the first meal of the day and transfer to the park headquarters for a pretrekking briefing. The ranger guides will explain the trekking dos and don’ts, assign groups of up to 8 people gorilla troops, and then accompany you to the wilderness for the search. The forest walk enables you identify the different species of plants and their use, birds, and other forest residents. You will first go to the place where the apes where last spotted, and then follow what your extinct says with the guidance of the ranger guides.

Though the experience is a little tedious, it is worth each effort and sweat. It lasts for roughly 1-8 hours depending on the distance the Apes have moved, and an additional how with them. Gorillas live in troops, led by a gentle alpha male with a silver-like lining at the back (a silverback). After a great time with your cousins the Gorillas, you will return to the lodge to refresh, have dinner and a peaceful sleep.

Day 8: Transfer to Nyungwe NP

After breakfast, you will check-out of the lodge for a transfer to Nyungwe national park at the borders with D.R. Congo. The 4-5 hour Journey with an enroute stopover for Lunch, and sight-seeing where the driver guide says so. Nyungwe is home to over 13 primate species, dominated by the chimpanzees. The route to the park is marked by plantations, homes, busy towns and the rolling hills. You will arrive in the evening hours, check-in at the lodge, retire to bed, and it is a heart at rest. Next day awaits meeting your cousins the chimpanzees

Day 9: Chimpanzee Trekking and Canopy walk

This day starts with a heavy cup of coffee and accompaniments. After, you will transfer to the park headquarters for document verification and pretrekking briefing. The briefing lasts for about 30 minutes with the ranger guides laying down the trekking dos and don’ts, talking about the forests and its inhabitants.

Chimps share this territory with other primates, birds, mammals, and reptiles. On a lucky day, you can come across the other primates such as the white and black Columbus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and more. Chimpanzees are scientifically reportedly as Mans closest relatives with over 98R%human like genes. They make over 25 distinctive sounds and are so intelligent. The one hour you will have with them should good enough to watch them interact, play or feed using sticks as fork. The trekking duration is about 1-4hours depending on how far the Apes have moved and your hiking speed.

After encountering them, you will have a Lunch break and some refreshment, before spending the evening on the freely suspended canopy. The canopy walk is one kind of experiences in East Africa, and the best way to explore Nyungwe national park with stunning landscape, a view of the forest and homesteads outside the park. End the day at the lodge with dinner and a peaceful sleep.  

Day10: Transfer to Arusha Tanzania

After a mouthwatering breakfast meal, you will checkout of your lodge in Nyungwe and immediately get on a 4-5 hours’ drive to Kigali international airport. Enroute, you will have a stopover at Nyanza palace for lunch and cultural experience. Afterwards get on a flight to Arusha international airport. At Kigali international airport, you will embark on a flight to Arusha international airport. Upon landing, meet and greet our driver guide who will brief you on what to expect at your time in the country. What to know is IN Tanzania, Swahili is the dominant Language and thus an opportunity for you to return home with some native words. You will be driven to the hotel for check-in, followed by dinner and a peaceful nap.

Day 11: Transfer to Serengeti NP

Today, we wake up to a mouthwatering breakfast meal at the lodge, and thereafter, you will depart for Serengeti national park, north of Tanzania. This is a road trip, through a route marked by lush plantation cover, rolling hills, and homes. You will have a Lunch stopover, and then a late arrival at the lodge for check-in, dinner and a nap. Serengeti National Park is one of the most visited safari parks in the east of the African continent.

It is a host to the annual wildebeest migration and four of Africa’s Big5 Cats namely; the lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and Rhinoceros. Our driver guide will entertain you with stories and facts about Tanzania and some more destinations in the northern part of Tanzania.

Day 12: Game drive and transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

At 06:30 hours, you will have game drive in the open savannah park. The sunrise game drive is to up your chances of encountering among others the pray and predators in the open savannah park. The hunters returning to their Hideouts, whereas the day grazers start their day with the fresh grass. Luck of the day ushers you to the hyenas, vultures, lions, Leopards, warthogs, wildebeests, waterbucks, impalas and more. This park is one of the most gifted and famous wildlife safari destinations in the world. It features in several travel documentaries and a host to one of the world’s natural wonders-the annual wildebeest migration which takes place in the Serengeti Masai Mara circuit. The Wildebeest migration is the largest land animal movement in the world.

After game drive, there will be breakfast in the wild, and then a return to the lodge to freshen up, and then checkout for a transfer to Ngorongoro crater.  It is a road trip with views of the undulating hills, lush plantations, and the natives of the land carrying on with their daily chores. Upon an evening arrival at the lodge, you will check-in for dinner and overnight stay. Ngorongoro is home to one of the largest worlds natural wonders; the land a caldera.

Day 13: Full day game drive

Wakeup to a Lip-smacking breakfast meal at the lodge today, then with packed Lunch, go for a full day game drive in the open savannah wilderness. The eyes should be open and ears keen to the different sounds. No guarantee of the surprise of the day but at any given point, your travel wish can be met. You will lookout for among others; the lions, leopards, zebras, impalas, warthogs, cheetah, Rhinoceros, hippos, wildebeests, wild dogs, gazelles, Oribis, Buffaloes, elephants, hyenas, and more.

Catch the great photography of eye-catching landscape, plants and the beautiful sunset. The ranger Guide will explain what animals are present, history of the park, and about the caldera. Ngorongoro crater is one of the largest land caldera in the world. It is a hideout to several pray and predators around the park. You will have Lunch, and later at sunset return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 14: Departure

Wakeup for a tasty cup of coffee, and thereafter depart Ngorongoro crater for Arusha town. City tour or any activity on this day is dependent on what time your flight is arranged. Exploring African cities equips you with how the African city dwellers live their life, the historical and cultural attractions there is.

F.A.Q.

There is no standard price for Uganda, Rwanda or Congo gorilla permit –each country has its rates. In Uganda, the charges vary depending on the visitor category. The foreign non-residents are charged USD 700 to have their gorilla permits booked, USD 600 for foreign residents and Ugandans (East Africa citizens) pay shs. 250,000 per person. To have a gorilla permit secured/booked, you need USD 1500 for Rwanda and this is most ideal for luxury/high-end travelers interested in visiting the endangered mountain gorillas.

When booking a gorilla permit, it is also a good thing to have a destination of your desire in mind. The key places to consider a must-visit on gorilla tour include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park –these are gorilla trekking destinations for tourists on a tour in Uganda. In Rwanda, Volcanoes National Park is where you can locate habituated mountain gorilla families and crossing the D.R. Congo, you can explore Virunga National Park.

It is a good thing to also understand when best to book your gorilla permits to avoid having issues on actual date of gorilla trekking. Considering our experience, we always recommend our clients to have their permits booked early enough at least 2-4 months. This can save you from last minute stress, especially if you plan to travel during the dry season also considered to be the peak season. The peak months of the year fall around June, July, August to September, and December, January to February.

Gorilla permits are among the relevant documents visitors must have to be allowed to track gorillas in Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Not any gorilla permit should be presented on actual gorilla trekking adventure but a valid one. Booking gorilla permits is part of making the entire gorilla trip complete and should be done early enough before the actual visit to see mountain gorillas or eastern lowland gorillas.

To have your gorilla permit booked, there is a process one should undergo through and is generally tedious. Considering your tight schedule back home, you may wonder how easier you can have your permit booked in advance to avoid last minute stress.

The easiest way to secure your gorilla permit in Uganda or Rwanda is by dealing with a recognized tour operator/company on the ground. This is where our reservation team comes in. As part of your gorilla safari requirement, our team being on ground will ensure that your permit is booked early enough and everything else that is needed for gorilla trekking is put together.

There is also an option of booking the permit directly through the reservation team of respective park authorities. But the challenge is that you must undergo through the long process to have your permit booked and this may not favor you depending on your schedule. Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is an organ in charge not only for conservation of wildlife in the Pearl of Africa but also sets prices for tourism activities in the parks including gorilla permits. In Rwanda, you can contact Rwanda Tourism Board/Rwanda Development Board to have your permit booked.

The East African tourist visa is a joint visa that permits one to travel to specific countries within East Africa, namely Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda only. A joint tourist visa can be used several times for various purposes as long as it’s not overdue. 

Tourists should therefore find it important to always remember that the tourist visa lasts for only 90 days.  Processing the tourist visa takes a maximum period of two working days. It is also important to note that the tourist visa prohibits employment.

The process of applying for a tourist visa has been made easier since it can be done with the help of a tour operator or by the individual themselves online through the Ministry of Internal Affairs immigration portal. Visitors are required to log in to the portal, go ahead and accept the terms and conditions for the tourist visa, select the Visa / permit type, the subcategory and category, complete the application form and upload the required documents. 

A reference number will be generated and sent to you through your email, submit it and proceed to payment. It’s important to note that the payment can be made using Visa cards.  An approval letter will be sent to your email after the above process.

Report at the immigration office or border post for the biometric capture with all the necessary documents, receipt of payment, approval letter and your passport. Visitors should regard it as important to enter through the home country issuing the visa.

The East African tourist visa costs a fee of $100 only, meaning that it can be obtained by all travelers ranging from the budget to luxurious ones.
